In Norse mythology, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory or mind) are the two ravens of Odin. Each day they fly out across the world and return to tell him what they have seen, which is why Odin is so often pictured with a raven on each shoulder. They appear in the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda. The runes between them are the Elder Futhark, the oldest runic alphabet, used from roughly the 2nd to the 8th century. A name in runes is a transliteration rather than a translation: each rune stands for a sound, so your name is written as it sounds, in the old letters.
