The Viking longship, or drakkar, was the defining vessel of the Viking Age — light, fast and shallow enough to cross open sea or slip up a river, carrying Norse traders, settlers and raiders across the North Atlantic. Its carved dragon-head prow was more than decoration: it was believed to frighten off evil spirits and sea monsters, and was traditionally removed when approaching friendly shores so as not to anger the land's own spirits. Paired here with snow, moonlight and a wink at the holiday classic 'Dashing Through the Snow,' the design leans into the Viking Age's genuine reputation for winter voyages and long midwinter nights at sea.
