Symbols carried, not borrowed.
Yggdrasil is the great ash at the centre of Norse cosmology, described in the 13th-century Eddas. Its branches spread over the worlds and its three roots reach Urd's well, where the Norns shape fate, Mímir's well of wisdom, and Hvergelmir, where the dragon Níðhöggr gnaws below. The name is often read as 'Odin's horse', after Odin hanging on a windswept tree for nine nights to win the runes. As a tattoo it stands for roots, endurance and the connection between everything.
